Probably grasshoppers. I almost ate flying ant once...while it was still alive. But I gagged and spit it out once I saw the guts. :D I've also had chicken liver (I'm not sure if that is weird or not.) :)

Mmm I have eaten a few strange things but probably the strangest was cow heart, I had when we lived in Peru. The strangest food I've tried in Italy would be octopus.

Since I was born in Japan and have lived here all my life nothing here seems really weird. I think to others takoyaki may seem weird but it is really good! It is these breaded/dumpling balls with octopus and inside them. There is also a really yummy sauce that goes on top of it.

Fish paste and Spaghetti ice cream (totally a Japanese idea, it didn't last long though). The ice cream was weird because it was salty and had a crazy texture to it. :)

I do not like to eat strange foods so the weirdest for me was papaya. It grows in our back yard, and I do not like it very much but it is good in smoothies. Ethaen LeClercq Guam
I've tried a lot of different things from different countries, and to me, Japanese food is pretty normal. But I did eat pig's tongue once here which was a little different. :D

I've had pigs tongue, different types of raw fish, and sweet beans. None of them seem strange to me though. And they are all delicious. (Although the raw octopus took me ten minutes to chew. 😂)

Here in Greenland we've eaten whale, seal, polar bear, reindeer, musk-ox, walrus, and a variety of fish. These aren't weird when they are cooked, but many of the nationals eat them raw. As they are cutting up the meat they will be snacking on it. It is about the only "Fast Food" you can get around here. :-) Once the meat is cooked it is okay. We all agree the weirdest thing we've ever eaten has been mattak. Mattak is whale blubber with the skin still attached and eaten raw. It is really hard to chew and even harder to swallow!

The weirdest thing that I have ever eaten is actually pretty normal here on Pohnpei for special occasions. We had roasted dog for our pastor's birthday party. It's actually pretty good. My mama thought it tasted like tough roast beef. My brother loves it. My sisters wouldn't eat it. One weird food that I have eaten is deep fried banana flower.
Raw mahi mahi liver. Very chewy! We joked around and called it "mahi mahi bubble gum". I even made an advertisement video for it, but for some reason I don't think there is going to be great demand for it. My brother and I "ate" tuna eyeballs too. The weirdest thing I've eaten is by far pig head sliced cheese. It's pretty much whatever is left of the pig after it has been processed. It's not an actual cheese. I think it's disgusting but my brother likes it. I've also eaten cow heart and tongue.

There is a ham bacon here that taste like ham and looks like ham. But yet it has a bacon taste to it as well.

We thought we were getting mince meat (ground beef in the US) and it said beef on the package. But it was not ground beef. It tasted more like sausage and it was OK tasting but not my favorite.

When I was in Korea my lovely friend made me try dried octopus..... I don't like seafood so it was not a pleasant experience. Other than that I don't really like to try things I don't know. We have had food poisoning a few times here and I do not want a repeat.

I think I would have to say that the weirdest things I have eaten here in Japan, has been bird organs, deer liver, or whole small fishes (bones,head, and all)... They don't taste the best, but if I had to I could eat them. I've also eaten lots of other things that might sound weird to most people like quid ink risottos, squid, fish eggs, fermented soy beans, slimy sea weed, etc. But most of these are really good. 😀 They have so much delicious food over here that I wish we could have everyone that we meet on furloughs taste some of them. (Not necessarily the foods mentioned above)😉
